The Humboldt penguin chicks have names!

It's been a summer full of new arrivals at Woburn Safari Park! The keepers in the Foot Safari were delighted to welcome a lovely batch of fluffy Humboldt penguin chicks, watching as they hatched and began taking their first steps and settling alongside their parents and siblings in the colony.

Now, a few months later, they are thrilled to reveal that a remarkable nine chicks joined the Park's growing penguin family, and they have officially been named!

Each family name follows its own theme, with inspiration from tasty food treats to military and gaming inspired names.

Meet the newly named chicks...

First to be introduced are the military-inspired names, Stryker and Chinook, who have joined dad Tank, mum Arrow and brother Apache.

Over in the food themed family are Tzatziki and Taramasalta, who join mum Salsa and sisters Pesto, Sriracha, Guacamole and Wasabi, all named after tasty dips!

Meanwhile, Mash joins mum Spud and brother Maris in a very potato themed family unit.

There's also gaming inspiration in the colony, with Toad and Goomba joining dad Koopa and sister Bowser, who are all named after characters from Super Mario Kart.

And last, and certainly not least, mum Rudy (short for Rudyard) has welcomed Kipling and Willen. Their names are a special nod to a lake at the wildlife park where Rudy was born.
