It is with very heavy hearts that we have to share the devastating news that after a recent illness, Oscar the female Kunekune pig has passed away.
On Thursday 25th January her dedicated team of specialist vets and keepers had to come to the difficult decision to euthanize Oscar.
Vets and keepers came to the sad conclusion that Oscar would not have made it through the night, and it was decided that the kindest thing to do would be to put her to sleep.
Oscar was well-loved by many
Oscar, who was 14 years old, first arrived at Woburn Safari Park in November 2009. During her time at Woburn, she enjoyed sunbathing in her paddock and exploring the rest of the park while going on walks with her keepers.
She was a lovely pig with a big personality, who could often be seen tearing into cardboard boxes filled with tasty treats made by her devoted keepers. She will be sorely missed by all those who met her but particularly by her keepers, some of whom have worked with her for many happy years.
