2022 was a bumper year for fundraising across the Park! We've had the abacus out and borrowed all of the fingers, toes, paws and claws we could find to help tot up the grand total...
Last year the keepers at Woburn raised over £42,000 for charity projects that protect the long term future of vulnerable animal species around the world!
This fantastic amount of money has gone to some incredible charitable organisations, and the direct contributions to in-situ and ex-situ conservation projects will make a huge difference to protecting habitats and species in the wild.
Projects already benefitting from fundraising efforts include Sphenisco, a fantastic charity dedicated to safeguarding the future of penguins, and the Bongo Surveillance Project - as well as favourites like the Wildcats Conservation Alliance, International Elephant Foundation and many more!
One of our most popular events last year was the lemur charity weekend, raising money for The Berenty Project - a scheme monitoring the populations of lemur species in Southern Madagascar to preserve the long term survival of the endangered ring-tailed lemurs. With help from the 63rd Peterborough Scout Group, keepers and visitors raised over £2500 in a single weekend!
So we all want to say...
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who visited one of the charity events or mini VIP sessions, gave money on the day or donated online.
The keepers are already planning some more fabulous fundraisers for the next 12 months, so be sure to look out for the next opportunity to get up close with the animals, bag a fantastic raffle prize (or two!) and learn more about the amazing conservation work that you're helping to support!
