Woburn Safari Park keepers treat animals to early Christmas gifts

Animals all across Woburn Safari Park have been opening up presents and tucking into festive feasts as the countdown to Christmas begins.

Lions, lemurs and squirrel monkeys were among the animals excitedly investigating their gifts from their keepers.

The Barbary macaques were quick to each claim a Christmas cracker, filled with nuts and steamed vegetables, as their own.

And the monkey mayhem continued over in the Foot Safari, where the troop of squirrel monkeys showed off their acrobatic skills to retrieve treats from their Christmas stockings.

While the African lion pride awoke to find a full Christmas setup, complete with their own decorated Christmas tree and pile of presents, for them to explore.

Over in the Land of Lemurs, the ring-tailed lemurs wasted no time at all in exploring their own winter wonderland, as they jumped on top of, and into, an igloo surrounded by festive packages filled with treats.

Meanwhile, the mob of meerkats worked quickly to rip open their wrapped box of Christmas treats.
