Visitors will now be able to enjoy spotting the three newest arrivals to the squirrel monkey troop, in their new enclosure!
Three squirrel monkey babies born at Woburn Safari Park
The tiny new additions were born at Woburn Safari Park in October but can now be seen playing with one another, and the rest of the troop, as they grow in confidence each day.
Female, Nelly, and two males, Chip and George, were all born within just a few days of each other!
Squirrel monkeys are highly sociable animals and can even be found in troops of up to 200 individuals. The troop at Woburn consists of a vast range of ages, from these most recent arrivals to some of the older ladies that are in their early twenties!
All three were born overnight to experienced mothers Tye, Dougal and Ringo in their aptly named enclosure, Monkey Mayhem.
A look at the redeveloped squirrel monkey enclosure
The newly redeveloped enclosure opened on the 12th of April, along with the rest of the Park, following its large refurbishment in 2020.
Featuring an expansive network of ropes, vantage points, platforms, and feeding devices, the enclosure has been carefully designed to encourage the monkeys’ natural behaviour.
