Lion cubs Halloween-themed enrichment

The African lion pride woke to find a number of specially carved pumpkins located around their large 32-acre exhibit.

Enrichment plays a large part of the animals' lives at Woburn Safari Park. By putting a seasonal Halloween-themed twist on the enrichment activity this time, the Carnivores keepers were able to encourage the pride to engage their natural instincts as they played with the pumpkins.

Young cubs Amara, Zulu, Hasani and Iniko wasted no time at all before investigating the new objects in their home.

The cubs were seen rolling the pumpkins around, carrying them and stealthily stealing them from one another.

And it wasn't long before youngsters, Kahari and Kojo, came along to join in with the fun.

Although it seems they weren't too impressed with the taste of the pumpkins...
