About us
Scientific name: Phalcoboenus australis
Despite being part of the falcon family, the striated caracara spends most of their time on the ground and they will use their powerful legs to turn over rocks or pieces of driftwood to find food such as crustaceans.
This bird of prey shows very little fear of humans and is very clever and curious. They are even known to enter urban areas to scavenge from people!
