Why the GCF?
The Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) is the only NGO in the world that concentrates solely on the conservation and management of giraffe in the wild throughout Africa. The GCF is currently involved in giraffe conservation initiatives in 15 African countries and their involvement ranges from programme implementation to providing technical support to partners and much more.
Woburn Safari Park is home to a herd of Nubian giraffes. Sadly, this giraffe subspecies is classified as critically endangered in the wild, with numbers continuing to decline due largely to human-driven threats.
These threats include habitat loss, poaching, climate change, disease, and other pressures. Both staff and visitors at Woburn Safari Park continue to support and help fund vital work led by the Giraffe Conservation Foundation to help reduce the risk of extinction.
FUNDRAISING FOR THE GIRAFFES
Woburn Safari Park has proudly supported the Giraffe Conservation Foundation for many years. Each summer, the animal keepers host a fundraising weekend where guests can participate in games and mini VIP experiences. A special competition is also held, giving visitors the chance to win a VIP experience, with all proceeds supporting vital giraffe conservation work.
In 2025, the Park raised over £3,000 for the charity, a fantastic achievement made possible by the generosity and enthusiasm of both visitors and staff.
